Wednesday 9 August 2023

Do you want to have your say and shape research and innovation for children and young people? Get involved with the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement group at Sheffield Children’s Hospital!

To ensure the best care and services are available for children, young people and their families, Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has a fantastic Research & Innovation (R&I) team based in the hospital that is dedicated to developing new medicines and treatments. One of the reasons the R&I team have earned their fantastic reputation, is their dedication to working collaboratively with young people and families to ensure the research is relevant and beneficial to people with lived experiences of different conditions and services. The team have created a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) group to provide the opportunity for people to have their voices heard and shape the research and innovation happening here in Sheffield.

What is a PPIE group?

The PPIE group is made up young people and families who have given their consent to being contacted with future involvement and engagement opportunities at the Trust.

Young people will be able to work alongside researchers and research teams to shape the development and delivery of new interventions by sharing their insight from lived experiences. They will have the opportunity to help set research priorities to ensure the research topics are relevant to our community.
