The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Programme (PRP) invites applications for a single research project to explore Equity in Medical Devices during the Pregnancy and Neonatal Period. This research is needed to assess whether there are disparities in the medical devices used during the pregnancy and neonatal period which are contributing to the disparities in maternal and neonatal outcomes. The research is also needed to understand how medical devices could be adapted to ensure equity in maternity and neonatal care.

The NIHR wants to generate high-quality research evidence into the evaluation of health and care interventions and services, to reduce compound pressures on the NHS and social care. This cross-programme call for research supports the recently published Department of Health and Social Care Areas of Research Interest, which calls for high quality evidence to support those who plan, commission, manage, deliver and use services across the health, public health and social care sector.

The NIHR programmes participating in this call for research that are still open for applications and their respective closing dates dates are:
