CHT2023 Nifty Fox Award for Best Abstract Winner Announcement

Thursday 16 November 2023

The 3rd annual Child Health Technology conference took place online this November and welcomed over 180 delegates from across the world for this unique two day event.

The Child Health Technology conference, founded and organised by the NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Co-operative, has become an incredibly popular event among the paediatric and health technology community. Alongside presentations of original research, speakers from across the world are invited to deliver technology demonstrations, interactive Q&A sessions and panel discussions on the latest developments and innovations in child health.

Each year, the organising committee strives to bring something new to the conference and provide a range of opportunities for delegates to engage with and learn from one another. For this year’s highly anticipated event, we were delighted to offer those presenting an abstract at the conference the opportunity to win the Nifty Fox Award for Best Abstract.

The organising committee and the team at Nifty Fox evaluated the superb selection of abstract presentations and reviewed each one for traits such as impact, involvement of patients and families, accessibility and clear and creative storytelling.

We’re delighted to share that the winners of CHT2023’s Nifty Fox Award for Best Abstract are Cara Shaw and Dr Farnaz Nickpour from the University of Liverpool.

Their presentation, entitled “Advancing and Disentangling PPIE in medtech innovations through design-lead methodologies: The ICER Framework” was an informative and engaging that we were delighted to have as part of the programme for CHT2023. Cara Shaw is a Designer and PhD Researcher who has developed a range of award-winning mobility products for diverse users across the world and is CTO at the Accessibility Institute. Dr Farnaz Nickpour is a Reader in Inclusive Design and Human-Centred Innovation and Director of The Inclusionaries Lab at the University of Liverpool.

The award winners received a wonderful bespoke illustration from Nifty Fox Creative that depicts a visual summary of their presentation in one image.

Delegates at CHT2023 are able to access Cara and Farnaz’s abstract presentation via the online platform for one month after the conference so if you haven’t had a chance to watch, it’s not too late! Find out more about Nifty Fox Creative and the award winning team’s work using the links below.
