Leicestershire Healthcare Inequalities Improvement Doctoral Training Programme
Friday 27 January 2023
This excellent PhD programme aims to address the unique health issues faced by Leicester and Leicestershire’s ethnically and culturally diverse population, recently amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to funding from the Wellcome Trust, there are funding opportunities available for 25 Research Fellows over five years, which will provide nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and doctors with the chance to pursue academic research.
The Leicestershire Healthcare Inequalities Improvement Programme (LHIIP) aims to develop a generation of innovative world-leading researchers in under-represented groups of health care professionals addressing important areas of health inequalities. LHIIP is hosted by the College of Life Sciences, where world-leading impactful research covering the breadth of biological sciences through to clinical specialities and health sciences is undertaken.
The programme has two clear ambitions:
- To tackle inequalities in healthcare provision;
- To address inequalities in academic opportunities for our Health Care Professionals.
The vision behind this programme is to create a vibrant, supportive, interdisciplinary and flexible training course to attract underrepresented healthcare professionals and to become a beacon site for research led by nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. The training will be delivered in partnership with the University of Leicester, Loughborough University, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, Leicester City Council’s Public Health team, and Leicester City CCG. Additionally, successful candidates will benefit from well-established partnerships across the regional and national healthcare system, local government, industry and community groups as well as the expertise at Leicester.
Applications are open now until 3 March 2023. To find out more, please visit the programme website using the link below or get in touch with the team at Leicester at firstname.lastname@example.org.
