A new Open Access publication led by Neonatal Technologies Theme Lead Professor Sharkey has been published in Seminars in Fetal & Neonatal Medicine.

The paper reviews the ‘application and potential of artificial intelligence in neonatal medicine’ and was put together by Dr Tng Chang Kwok, a neonatal research fellow undertaking a PhD in AI applications in neonatology at the University of Nottingham under Professor Sharkey’s supervision.

The review is co-authored by an international group of leading neonatal AI researchers and provides insights into the current state-of-the-art and future perspectives.

Application of AI in neonatal medicine is one strand of the Neonatal Technologies theme at NIHR CYP MedTech and Professor Sharkey continues to work in this area with a number of exciting projects well underway.

The article is open access to read for free.

Researchers in this field are encouraged to speak to NIHR CYP MedTech or contact Professor Sharkey if they wish to discuss projects.
