Welcoming Jacob Branchflower to the NIHR CYP MedTech team!

Monday 13 December 2021

NIHR CYP MedTech are very pleased to welcome Jacob Branchflower to the team! Jacob will be joining us as a Project Manager and brings many new skills with him. After studying Biological Sciences and Biopharmaceutical Development, he gained industrial experience designing, developing, and managing novel Cell based assays at a large contract research organisation. Following this, he also worked at the European Patent Office, Munich, performing Patent Examination of applications for novel innovations in the Healthcare, Biotechnology and Chemistry sector, giving him insight into the commercialisation of new medical grade products.

“I’m very much looking forward to getting involved with the important and innovative service that NIHR CYP MedTech offers in the paediatric health care sector. It has always been important to me to feel like I am actively making a real difference to people’s lives, and so joining as Project Manager gives me a great opportunity to do this in a purposeful way. Reading about the team’s current and previous work gives me a great deal of excitement for the future and makes me eager to get started. I hope to bring the skills and knowledge of IP and commercialisation I have developed to my current role, and to develop my understanding of what is required to innovate in the paediatric medical technology space.

Despite the challenges faced in the past 18 months, the current pandemic situation has provided the conditions necessary for big changes in the way patients receive care. Health care providers are increasingly looking towards technology to provide unique solutions to existing and emerging issues. During this time of increased demand on services and innovative change, I passionately feel that it is important that the needs of children and young people are addressed, making the work of CYP MedTech more important than ever.”
