“I am delighted to take up the invitation to become Chair of the NIHR Children and Young People MedTech Cooperative MIC (NIHR CYP MedTech) and would like to thank Karen Livingstone as outgoing Chair for the steer and guidance offered to the CYP MedTech team over her past 3 years. CYP MedTech are the only dedicated paediatric NIHR MIC and cover a number of key clinical areas to support innovations for children with long term conditions, children are vital to the nations present and it’s future, and evidence shows that if a child starts life with poor health or with poorly managed long terms health conditions they are likely to carry this into later life.

As we enter this crucial phase in the MIC programme as well as the ongoing challenges of supporting children, young people and families through the pandemic, I, along with colleagues who sit on the Steering Committee, welcome the challenge of offering support and guidance to the CYP MedTech Core Team over the next two years.”
