The ‘Not Mini Adults’ Podcast: Pioneers for Children’s Health and Wellbeing

Thursday 17 September 2020

Stories have the power to change the world! Listen in with the co-founders of children’s charity Thinking of Oscar as they discuss stories with some of the world’s modern day pioneers doing what they can to change the way in which children are cared for and looked after. The aim of the podcast is to educate, inspire and beat the drum for the individuals who are looking to make a big difference to the lives of children. Hear conversations with clinicians, teachers, innovators, parents, nurses and many others who share how they are working to change the world for the better for children everywhere.

Thinking of Oscar was set up in memory of Oscar Cole, who died suddenly in June 2014 aged just 16 months. Thinking of Oscar started off with the aim of supporting children and their families whilst in hospital care by funding projects and innovation over and above that supplied by the NHS. We have learned along the way that there is a void between the funding and focus needed within paediatric healthcare. 2019 marked the 5th anniversary of the charity and the 5th anniversary of Oscar’s death and with it we created a new mission: to ‘Bring the Future of Healthcare to Children’, through innovation and the use and investment in digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science and machine learning. To date Thinking of Oscar has raised in excess of £350,000 and has funded projects across a number of children’s hospitals around the UK.
