Facilitating Medical Device Clinical Research in the UK – Survey

Monday 08 August 2019

Our partners at The NIHR London Medical In-Vitro Diagnostic Co-operative (MIC), based at Imperial College, are collaborating with the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) to help facilitate Medical Device clinical research in the UK. They have a questionnaire to ask your opinion and are conducting some phone interviews.

Each year a huge number of medical devices are being developed, but only a few make it to the market. Failures at both early and late stages of the Research and Development (R&D) process can not only result in costly and inefficient economic return for enterprises, but ultimately, this also leads to no marked improvement to the healthcare system.

The aim is to help companies, academic researchers and universities who develop Medical Devices to do their research and development in the UK by producing a scoping report for the CRN which highlights the barriers to Medical Device development and potential mitigating strategies.
